Religious and spiritual abuse is a deeply harmful form of manipulation that can occur within religious organizations or pseudo-spiritual groups. This type of abuse often involves a leader using scripture, beliefs, or spiritual practices to control or coerce members, leading to emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical harm. You may be experiencing religious or spiritual abuse if a religious leader has: Used scripture or beliefs to humiliate or embarrass you Coerced you into giving money or resources against your will Pressured or forced you into unwanted intimate or sexual acts Made you feel obligated to act against your values or desires These abusive behaviors can occur in both well-known religious institutions and smaller, cult-like groups. Leaders may exploit spirituality as a tool to exert control, leading to serious and lasting effects on individuals, including adults and children. At Know Thyself Journey, we offer specialized counseling to help you heal from the trauma of religious or spiritual abuse. Our approach is compassionate and non-judgmental, focusing on empowering you to reclaim your autonomy, rebuild your self-worth, and find peace on your spiritual journey. Examples of spiritual abuse Situations of spiritual abuse may include: -A religious or spiritual leader leveraging their position of authority as a means of coercion. -Insulting or ridiculing someone’s spiritual beliefs. -Using spiritual beliefs to manipulate someone. -Insisting children have to be raised under one partner’s religion. -Rationalizing other forms of abuse through religious doctrines or teaching. -Making someone perform spiritual practices against their will. -Using someone’s spiritual beliefs to create guilt or shame. -Preventing someone from practicing their beliefs. -Denying education about bodily autonomy due to spiritual beliefs. -Using spiritual beliefs to withhold necessary medical care. Sometimes, spiritual abuse may appear consensual.

Cancellation Policy

KTJ Cancellation Policy: We appreciate your interest in our services. Please review our cancellation policy carefully before booking a session. 1. Refunds: Please note that all bookings are non-refundable. Once a session is booked and confirmed, no refunds will be provided. 2. Fee for Missed Appointments: A fee of $35 will be charged for any missed appointment without prior notice. 3. Cancellation Notice: If you need to cancel your scheduled session, we require a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to the scheduled session time. If cancellation is made within 24 hours you will be able to reschedule your paid session. Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in the forfeiture of your session without the possibility of rescheduling or refund. All scheduled appointments will receive a confirmation notification within 24 hours of the scheduled session. Please ensure that your contact information is up to date to receive these notifications. 4. Notification Process: To cancel a session and comply with our cancellation policy, please send an email to [info@knowthyselfjourney.com] with your full name, session date and time, and the reason for cancellation. Please ensure that your cancellation request is received at least 24 hours before the session's start time. 5. Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule a session, you must provide the cancellation notice as outlined above and then contact us to discuss potential alternative session times. Rescheduling is subject to availability and is not guaranteed. 6. Emergencies: We understand that life happens with the unexpected. In case of a genuine emergency that prevents you from attending the scheduled session, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your situation. We will consider such cases on an individual basis. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we aim to maintain a fair and consistent policy for all clients.
